ABOUT FLAG LEAGUE FLAG FOOTBALL SCHEDULE FLAG FOOTBALL FEES REGISTRATION
The 2010 spring season of flag football will be kicked off at the beginning of March. North Carolina will offer programs in Cary, Raleigh, Wake Forest, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Fayetteville, Garner, and Johnston County. South Carolina teams will be available for the Greenville and Spartanburg areas.
2010 Spring Season of Flag Football
The HFL's flag football program is for homeschool boys between the ages of 6 to 18. We offer three age divisions:
- Mighty-Mite League (ages 6 to 10)
- Youth League (ages 9 to 15)
- Varsity League (ages 13 to 18)
The age guidelines are NOT absolutes. By offering flexible age guidelines, we hope to promote an atmosphere where brothers can consistently play on the same teams. If you would like to have a player placed in an older or younger age bracket, please communicate your intent when registering.
The 2010 spring season of flag football will begin with practices in early March. Dates and times for initial practices are listed below. The season will be 12 to 14 weeks in duration. We have structured the league with teams meeting only once per week for 90 minutes to limit the time required from participating families. Each team will have three practices, six regular season games, and a minimum of one playoff game. The champions from each location will be invited to join us for our League Championship Games which are scheduled for a Saturday, May 22nd in Raleigh, NC.
We encourage dads, when available, to volunteer as coaches. We have found that coaching provides a great opportunity for a father to share in the molding of his son's values and sportsmanship. We do not expect fathers to commit to coaching every game and do not wish for any of the coaches to feel obligated. Dads are welcome to coach as little as a partial game or as much as every game of the season. One football game with his dad as the coach can be a wonderful experience for a young boy. Previous coaching experience is not required.
It is because we feel a father's participation is so special to his son, that we schedule a father and son flag football game each season. This game has consistently been a highlight of past seasons. Where dads are not available to participate, we continue to encourage all league players to join us for this special activity. We have a lot of fond memories from these games each season. The father and son game for the spring of 2010 is scheduled for Saturday, April 3rd.
North Carolina teams will be offered in Cary, Garner, Johnston County, Raleigh, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and Fayetteville. South Carolina teams are scheduled for the Spartanburg and Greenville areas. The HFL is also interested in launching programs in Durham, Wilmington, East Wake, and possibly the Burlington area.
If you are interested in helping to create a team in your area, please contact us. We need a minimum of 20 boys in an area to establish a division of the league in a community. Families are not limited to teams located in a particular geographical area and are welcome to participate on the league team that best complements their homeschooling schedule.

Flag Football Registration Fees
The registration fee for flag football is $95 per player if payment is received or postmarked by March 8th. All players registering will receive four (4) free Dominos Pizza cards marked with a suggested selling price of $10 each. Each card offers well over $100 in savings from any Dominos location in the United States (pickup or delivery). Once your free cards have been sold, your family will have a savings of $40, cutting your registration costs down to $55 per player. If you are registering two brothers, you will receive eight (8) free Dominos cards. Additional Dominos cards are available upon request.
Families with three or more sons participating in the league will receive our large family discount rate of $235 if registering prior to the March 8th early registration deadline. This discounted registration will allow all brothers in a family to participate in our flag football programs for one fixed cost. Families receiving this discount will also receive ten (10) free Dominos Pizza cards. After selling your ten Dominos cards, the cost of a large family participating drops to $135.
After March 8th, the early registration discount will no longer apply. All registrations must be paid in full by March 8th for the discount to apply. Families registering after the early registration period ends will be charged $125 per player or $295 when registering three or more brothers. The sale of your free Dominos cards will lower the out-of-pocket expense for one player to $85 and a large family to $195. As previously noted, additional Dominos Pizza cards are available upon request.
The cost of team uniforms, field rentals, awards, football equipment, league administration, and liability insurance are included in the participation fee. Beyond the purchase of a mouthpiece, no additional equipment is required. Mouthpieces can be purchased for 99 cents at many sporting goods stores or discount retailers, like Wal-Mart. Cleats are recommended, but are not required.
